IZB 2024, the largest European supplier fair for the automotive industry in Europe and a global benchmark, starts on October 22 at the Allerpark in Wolfsburg, Germany. From October 22 to 24, 2024, leading companies from the automotive supplier industry will meet in Wolfsburg at the 12th International Suppliers Fair (IZB), where they will present innovative products and services for the automotive value chain, with several world premieres.
The IZB, of which AutoRevista is a media partner and will be covering on-site, also offers a platform for intensive dialogue between suppliers and manufacturers, especially Volkswagen, while focusing on future technologies and sustainable solutions. The IZB Live Stage reflects this throughout the three-day program. The innovations (www.izb-online.com/en/innovations2024) as well as the program (www.izb-online.com/en/livestage) can be viewed online.
Wolfsburg AG is publishing the innovation report "innovations@IZB" again this year at the trade fair. The report contains a list of more than 60 product and process innovations from around 55 companies from around the world. Among them are 16 world premieres that will be presented to the public for the first time at this year's IZB. The IZB's main media partner, Automobilwoche, will select the 25 "products to watch at Automobilwoche" from all the innovations presented, which will be presented separately at the trade fair.
"The way forward for the automotive industry is to capture trends and technologies in order to quickly develop new products or develop completely new ones and then strategically position them on the market. The challenges posed by digitalisation and sustainability for the sector can only be successfully overcome if this is done continuously and in constant cooperation between all those involved. The exhibitors at the IZB will provide important starting points for this," explains Josef Schulze Sutthoff, Director of the IZB at Wolfsburg AG.
This year, the range of innovations announced by the exhibitors includes both software and hardware solutions – from components and products to devices and machines, through to materials and systems. Leoni will present, for example, Limeverse, an innovative insulation material that uses bio-based materials and mass-balanced plastics to offer sustainable solutions for the automotive industry. T-Systems will also be present with a world first. Its battery passport ensures perfect documentation throughout the entire life cycle of batteries and thus enables greater traceability.
There are also new developments in the production area, such as the Tecnipack V3 packaging system presented by the Spanish company DS Smith Tecnicarton. This optimised packaging solution is ideal for production lines, facilitating operations and increasing efficiency. Uniphy BeyondTouch, an innovative system presented by the British company of the same name, enables the integration of pressure-sensitive control elements into freely-shaped touch surfaces and the creation of intuitive user interfaces.
The extensive programme of events accompanying the IZB helps to establish links and contacts for an in-depth exchange between exhibitors and trade visitors. The central meeting point of the fair will be the IZB Live Stage and the Connecting Area, located in Hall 4. “We are delighted that experts and decision-makers from the sector have accepted our invitation to share their solutions and visions of the future on the IZB Live Stage. A special highlight is that Volkswagen will use the stage on the last day to summarise the results of previous technical discussions with suppliers and to discuss future cooperation,” says Inga Rill-Hackstein, Project Manager for the Connecting Area at Wolfsburg AG.
Speakers include executives from Schaeffler, Forvia and NXP Semiconductors, as well as IZB sponsors and Volkswagen brand management board members Dirk Große-Loheide and Kai Grünitz. The focus will be “Powertrain & Battery” and “Interior & Exterior” on 22 October and “Electronics & Connectivity” and “Metals, Car Body & Chassis” on 23 October.
In addition, before the start of the trade fair, automotive industry experts have already been in the spotlight in Wolfsburg: at the Automotive Supplier Summit 2024, organised by IPM AG, in the CongressPark Wolfsburg on 21 October 2024. Suppliers, OEMs, software developers and service providers from the automotive industry discussed the topics "Software-Defined Vehicle - Redefining the Future" and "Software-Defined Vehicle - Redefining the Future".
