The automotive and mobility industry in the Valencian Community has experienced a first half of the year in which various events have highlighted the sector in the region. On the one hand, in March the first stone was laid for the future gigafactory of PowerCo, the Volkswagen Group's battery company in Sagunto. Sources from this company have summarised for AutoRevista the keys to its second European implantation.

In April, the Automotive and Mobility Cluster in the Valencian Community (AVIA) celebrated its first 20 years of existence in the midst of a process of transformation towards sustainable mobility.  We review the main milestones of the entity, which began its journey in 2003, with seven associated companies and began its professionalization in 2006. After a moderate growth at the beginning, the entity has been increasing its membership to reach 120 associates that bring together the entire value chain of the production of sustainable vehicles in the Valencian territory.

At this moment of celebration, the renewal of positions took place, with Paco Segura, CEO of Grupo Segura taking over from Mónica Alegre, commercial director of Industrias Alegre and president of the cluster since 2018. In addition, Elena Lluch ended a period of 13 years in the management of the entity to face new professional challenges, taking over from Jackie Sánchez-Molero, until now director of Mobility Innovation Valencia (MIV), an entity linked to AVIA. Both chief executives have given us interviews in which they explain how they are tackling the new stage.

Finally, a number of companies give their views on the particularly unique moment in the Valencian Community.  They talk about the impact of the arrival of the PowerCo gigafactory, the contribution of the cluster over the last two decades and, of course, the challenges they face in order to remain competitive in the future.
